India: the land where life of a human being is cheaper than that of an animal
Can you name a country where the life of a human being is less than that of an animal? Well, if you have guessed India, you are right. The once voracious beef-eating Brahmins and their non-Brahmin lower caste Hindus have become the zealous protectors of cows in India.
The life of non-Muslims who eat beef does not matter to them an iota. Since the BJP came to power in the center, the fascist Hindus have found a major protector of their fascism in Narendra Modi. One after another many states are electing Hindutvadi leaders and are banning cow slaughter.
Chattishgarh chief minister Raman Singh is the latest of such bigots who threatens to kill or hang anyone slaughters cow. He was answering to a reporter who asked him if any strict law against cowslaughter is going to be framed in Chhattisgarh. "Pichle 15 salon main kuch nahi hua, leking agar marega toh usko latka denge,"(Nothing has happened in last 15 years, but if it happens then the accused will be hanged) the Chief Minister said while speaking to some reporters, reported ANI.
Last year, Agriculture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal had informed that the Chhattisgarh state government had been strictly enforcing the law banning cow slaughter in the state where about 31,000 cattle had been rescued from animal smugglers in the past 12 years.
He had informed that as many as 1,373 cases of cattle smuggling had been registered so far under the Chhattisgarh Agricultural Cattle Preservation Act, which was enacted in 2004.
Chief Minister Raman Singh had enacted the law to ban cow slaughter in the very first year after assuming office in December 2003. The smuggling of cattle attracts imprisonment up to seven years and a fine of Rs 50,000, Agarwal had said.
He had also claimed that Chhattisgarh was the first state in the country to enforce the law in letter and spirit to ban the slaughter of cows, buffaloes and their progeny.
